Context

A holding group in a GCC country had several subsidiaries operating under it. Each of these subsidiaries had been managing and delivering large-scale projects independently but lacked supervision at the holding group level. Therefore, there was a need to establish a delivery unit at the group level which would have an overarching view on all strategic projects being undertaken by the various subsidiaries.

The Ask

Pace Consulting was approached by the holding group to establish and operate its a Strategic Projects Function at the group level. The scope of work included:

  • Consulting Support in setting up the strategic support function’s operating model and governance framework and processes.
  • Project Management in terms of operating the strategic support function, identifying all strategic projects and orchestrating the execution while reporting directly to the upper management.

Given the urgency of operating the strategic projects' function as indicated by the client, we worked on two parallel tracks:

Outcomes

The Strategic Projects Function was approved by the client and handed over for full operations successfully. Furthermore, we managed the execution of 2 strategic projects that were required to be handled by the function before its full setup.
